On 26 March the congregation unanimously agreed on the mission plan, to be implemented over the next 3-5 years. Click here for a copy of the plan.
Although expressed differently and developed separately, it fits well with the Canberra Region Presbytery Mission Plan 2023-26, which was agreed by consensus that same weekend. The Presbytery plan was the culmination of a process that spanned 4 Presbytery meetings, seeking grassroots comment and suggestions.
The Presbytery Plan opens with 4 affirmations:
❖ God is always present, preparing the way and calling us into mission
❖ God is doing new things in us and through us in unexpected, surprising, and amazing ways
❖ God is calling us outward to be present and engaged in our communities
❖ God’s faithfulness leads us to share and grow our faith, calling and forming new disciples,
and features 5 commitments:
Being church together – Building deeper connections across the Presbytery and wider Uniting Church
Helping each other grow connections with our local communities
Being part of each other’s lives – friendly and supportive
Using property to resource God’s mission, and
Engaging in social justice, equality, and local issues.
It then goes on to recast the commitments as actions, raise questions to prompt actions we might take to live out the commitments, and offer examples. The Presbytery mission plan can be found here.
We consider the WVUC mission plan gives expression to each of these commitments, in our local context. We welcome comments and participation.
